A Mission: A Fan Story

The First

It was mid-August 2023, Thursday evening. I worked from home that day and I finished work at around 6pm. I sat on my couch and grabbed my phone to look for something to watch on YouTube. The first suggested video I saw – “SB19 Performs Gento on Good Day New York.” I recognized the word “Gento” as my 4-year old niece would sometimes sing the song and dance to it. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the video to watch. I became a fan of the group that day.

My Bias

The next day, I started binge watching SB19 vlogs, music videos, and interviews on YouTube. I did not have a “bias” or a favorite at that time. I simply found the group entertaining. I started listening to their songs and I thought it was cool that they write and compose their own songs.

Days went by and I noticed that I was gravitating towards Ken. There was something about his personality that I found fascinating and adorable. And when I watched him, I got this feeling of wanting to protect him but I couldn’t quite comprehend why. I wanted to get to know him a little bit more so I started watching his solo interviews. I came across his interview on Dougbrock TV. The interview was about two and a half hours long but it honestly felt short because I was so amazed by his story. His perseverance, passion, and sincerity were all so attractive and inspiring. I found my bias. It was Felip or Ken of SB19.

A Happier Life

By the end of August 2023, I pretty much watched all SB19 and Felip content on YouTube. I wanted more. The group was doing their US/Canada tour at that time so I wanted to stay updated. I decided to create social media accounts. I became active on Twitter/X as I found it to be the best platform to obtain information and updates.

As I continued my journey as a fangirl, I realized that my days were becoming more colorful. As an introvert and a workaholic, work was pretty much my life. I am an Audit Manager at a CPA firm in Hawaii. I am in my early 30’s, married with no kids. My husband is also a workaholic. All of my family are in the Philippines, except for my siblings. Before I became a fangirl, the only thing I would look forward to was vacation/travel with my husband or family twice or three times a year. The whole fangirl experience was new and exciting to me. It felt like there was always something to look forward to.

A Mission

A couple of months went by and I found myself doing giveaways/contests on Twitter/X to support Felip. I decided to focus my support on Felip. I am still a fan of the group and still support SB19 as a group but I found something special about Felip. His talent is so amazing and unique and I feel that the world deserves to know him. Not only that, I love his genuine and kind personality. I have this strong feeling of wanting to help him achieve his dream of penetrating the international scene. So, I decided to turn it into a mission – to support Felip and help him achieve his dream.
