Expecting the Unexpected: Felip Performs Unreleased Track Titled ‘Foes’ Afore Highly Anticipated International Album

Following the release of his latest hit “Fake Faces”, Felip is geared towards a new era. Kick-starting it with a performance of one of his many unreleased compositions, “Foes” is an invitation to buckle up and prepare for the wild ride.

The Countdown Begins

Through a video clip posted by Warner Music Japan via X last May 10, Felip shared exhilarating news— his international debut album is officially on its way, set to drop on July 5.

Of course, who else is thrilled to bits upon hearing the surprise but the fans, if the tagline “FELIP ALBUM IS COMING” easily climbing up to the top and 39th spots of X’s Philippines and Worldwide trends in less than three hours post album announcement, is any indication.

Prior to this, the singer-songwriter already revealed in his recent Vogue Philippines feature that “Fake Faces” is indeed “the first track out of a new album yet to be released.”

Unleashing ‘Foes’

Without much warning, the ROCKSTA set the Araneta Coliseum ablaze with a performance of an unreleased track titled “Foes” during the first of SB19’s two-day PAGTATAG! Finale concert held last May 18.

The genre-bending artist started off strong with an epic entrance, showcasing his skills on the fretboard in a riveting guitar solo. Further igniting the fire, he performed in an unorthodox singing style that rode on a hardcore beat fused with rock and punchy hip-hop elements.

Fan cams all over social media can confirm the enigma that ‘Foes’ is; fans and casual listeners alike sharing a mutual reaction: absolute shock. Admit it, nobody saw it coming!

And if the tune rings a bell to you, that is because Felip teased it multiple times before. The latest hint was on April 16, when he posted a clip on his Instagram story recording the song which is viewable under “WE LOVE 808” till today. Post concert, he created another Highlight with some footage of his “Foes” performance. This might be the nod affirming that it is one of the tracks included in the still unnamed album.

To add, “Foes” demonstrating his guitar skills parallels his wish to play instruments professionally, as mentioned in the 30 Picks video posted by Warner Music Philippines on its official YouTube channel. This leads to this query: Will we be seeing more of instrumentalist FELIP in this upcoming new era?

The chances are not slim and the anticipation only thickens.

_____ALBUM? + Unreleased Tracks Listed

Did you know that a little over a year ago, when asked during his COM•PLEX radio tour interview with GV 99.1 about having plans of ever releasing a full-length album, Felip responded, “Of course sa pagiging music artist, darating talaga ‘yung time na gusto mong i-achieve ‘yung gano’ng feat. Of course, darating ‘yung araw na magre-release ako ng album. Di man sa ngayon, siguro years to come pa but definitely magre-release ako.”

(“Of course as a music artist, the time will come that you’d aspire to achieve that kind of feat. Of course, the day will come that I will be releasing an album. Maybe not now, maybe in a few years to come, but I definitely will.”)

It has not been long since then and now, we have a solid date marked up in our calendars! He also told Vogue Philippines that he does not force things because he does not want to release something half-baked. His almost three-year-old solo discography backs this up.

“I know that I’m a diverse artist, so it’s a mix of different genres,” the singer further dished out in a recent UNEXPLND interview. Indeed, if there’s one thing certain about the man, it is his penchant for springing surprises. This also means he has mastered the art of teasing. Felip has been sharing snackable portions of various tunes which only proves that he has been cooking and is about to serve!
